Our Work
Advocacy, Education, and Resources

Legal Advocacy and Direct Support
Defending rights and navigating complex legal pathways for individuals and families.
Our work in legal advocacy involves providing specialized counsel, mentorship, and informational referrals to individuals facing legal challenges related to disability and neurodiversity. While the WNYDNBA does not provide direct, pro-bono client representation, we equip our member attorneys with the specialized resources, templates, and knowledge needed to handle cases in education, employment, housing, and access with confidence and ethical precision. Our efforts ensure that individuals seeking legal protection can find highly competent representation within our network.
Professional Development and CLE Programs
Setting the standard for excellence in disability and neurodiversity law through expert training.
A cornerstone of our work is raising the professional competence of the Western New York Bar through targeted Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs and specialized workshops. We host seminars focusing on emerging legal issues, best practices for communicating with neurodivergent clients, understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and navigating the intricacies of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI/SSDI). These educational offerings are vital for maintaining a strong, informed, and inclusive legal ecosystem across the region.

Community Education and Public Outreach
Promoting wider understanding of rights and fostering community dialogue on inclusion.
Beyond supporting legal professionals, the WNYDNBA is deeply engaged in public outreach and community education. We conduct workshops for families, educators, employers, and local government agencies to demystify disability law and promote awareness of civil rights. By providing clear, accessible information on accommodations, non-discrimination policies, and available resources, we empower the community to proactively ensure compliance and create environments that are welcoming and fully accessible to everyone.
